The Ular Lapiak (with many other names, including Ular Tikar, Banyu, hantu air , hantu tikar, Lulun Samak ,etc.) is a cryptid reported from the Indonesian islands, especially West Sumatra.
Description[]
According to lore, this is a creature or ghost with the appearance of a flattened snake, like a mat or blanket. It is found near water, and when a human passes by it unnoticed, it wraps itself around the human and drags it underwater, drowning it and sucking its blood. This property is similar to the El Cuero of Chile and the Xizi of China.
There are several recent videos purportedly showing Ular Lapiak, but they are all unclear and do not provide detailed characteristics of this creature.
