Crocodile swimming in the sea
Saohana Monster is a cryptid said to have appeared in the sea near Saohana, Nakago Island, Nagasaki, Japan.

Sightings[]
The only time it was witnessed was on a single night sometime between the 1930s and 1960s.
One fisherman was fishing in his boat near Saohana at night when a fisherman from another boat called for help. He looked into the water and saw a huge crocodile-like creature there. The monster was circling around the boat as the fisherman who had called for help moved about on the boat.
Another fisherman who came to the rescue made a harpoon by attaching a knife to a bamboo pole and stuck it into the monster's mouth to repel it.
Explanations[]
This was probably a saltwater crocodile. They could easily have come from around Southeast Asia, as warm currents run through this vicinity.
Some people on the Internet have suggested that the monster could have been a mosasaurus, but the likelihood of survival is infinitesimally low, and the lack of features corroborating the mosasaurus makes it less plausible.
