The Real Rodan is a winged cryptid reported from Kyushu, Japan.
Description[]
The sighting occurred around 7:00 AM one morning in November 2020, near the border between Miyazaki and Kumamoto prefectures. A mother and daughter were driving through this location when the sighting occurred. This location has a mountain on the right side and a valley on the left side in the direction of travel. As they approached this location, a bird-like creature with wings larger than the car rushed toward the car from the mountain. It had feathery wings, not membranes.
The mother braked suddenly and avoided contact with this creature just in time. She saw the creature at close range and noticed the jagged edges of its beak. The daughter testified that she saw eye contact with the creature and that its eyes were red and different from those of a normal bird. The bird-like creature descended toward the valley as it passed their vehicle.
The two reported their experience to cryptid researcher Bintaro Yamaguchi. Bintaro described the creature as a Real Rodan, after the Rodan that appears in monster movies.
Explanation[]
Some believe that the bird-like creature spotted at this time may be a survivor of the Pelagornithids, based on its jagged-edged beak. Others think it was simply a crane or stork with a scarred beak and eye.
