The Point Pleasant Angel is a cryptid reported from Mason County, West Virginia, USA.
On January 4, 1905, the Weekly Register, a local newspaper, reported the sighting of three angels by Rev.
Description[]
Reverend McKibben, who was visiting Point Pleasant on business and was returning home by horseback late at night when his horse spooked near the cemetery and he looked toward it. He saw three white winged angels hovering over the grave of a recently buried woman.
Explanation[]
The area is famous for the sightings of Mothman, which began about 61 years later, in 1966. Some believe that Mothman may be a type of angel, and the regional similarity of the Point Pleasant sighting may reinforce this theory.
On the other hand, the fact that the witness was Reverend may indicate that he may have misunderstood another object due to his deep religious beliefs, or that he may have seen something akin to a kind of hallucination.
