Poaxiao is a mythical creature from the ancient bestiaries of China. It is described as a mountain goat that had the face of a human. Its eyes were located under its armpits. Instead of hooves it had human hands and it had the sharp teeth of a tiger. It was a fierce predacious creature that was known to kill and devour people.
The monster designs of the taotai from the 2016 movie The Great Wall were supposedly influenced somewhat by this mythical creature.
