The Púca, also spelt Pooka or Phouka, is a Celtic shapeshifting spirit creature known to be a prankster and a trickster, but also dangerous. They are revered as both forces for good and evil, and they can help or hinder rural areas. Púcaí can have fur of either a dark or light colour, and are sometimes seen as fae. The Púca is capable of transforming into a human, but unlike other shapeshifters with the same ability, such as the Each-Uisge, it is normally given away by an animal feature, such as horns or a tail. It can also take various other forms such as a cat, Raven, goblin, horse, and more. All forms with fur will have the same hair colour as the original Púca.

The Púca can be ridden, and unlike the Kelpie, it will do little to no harm to the rider. The only person recorded historical riding the Púca was Brian Boru, High King Of Ireland, by using a special bridle with the Púca’s tail hairs. It is capable of human speech in Irish, Old Irish and English, and can lead people away from harm. Some stories name them as benevolent fae folk, whilst others suggest it to be a vamcreature. eating creature. Púcaí can come in the form as a Horse, a Goat (particularly as an old irish goat) or a man with a goats head.
