Restoration of Procynosuchus by Nobu Tamura
Missie is a cryptid that has been known to appear in Tokyo and Chiba Prefecture. Its name comes from Mizumoto Park in Tokyo.
Description[]
Sightings were common from the 1970s to the 1990s. Some say it is a semi-aquatic vertebrate, 30 cm to 3 meters long, and resembles a rat, while others say it was definitely a reptile.
It would seem to be a survivor of primitive synapsids, given that it has features of both rodents and reptiles, but this is not plausible given its age and environment.
Some sources have posted that Missie has been identified as a muskrat, but this is inconsistent with the sighting of a 3-meter reptile. It is possible that there was a muskrat in the area of the sighting and a pet reptile that escaped, both of which could have been considered Missie.
