In the Philippine Mythology, The Mantahungal is the evil beast that was known by the Tagbanuas to rip a person to shreds.
Description[]
This legendary monster has both the body and the sound of a cow, but is hornless. It has a shaggy coat of hair, and a gaping, horrifying mouth, with a large pair of tusk-like fangs.
It is believed that this creature lives in thick forest patches on top of mountainous areas avoiding human beings. Bloody encounters do result after a meeting between a Mantahungal and a human being since the creature is known to rip a victim to pieces with its fangs.
Explanation[]

A possible inspiration for this creature might have ben surviving megafauna, or an animal which descended from this group of animals, judging by it's description as a hornless bovine-like creature with tusk-like fangs.
