The Lao Beastman is a cryptid reported from Laos.

Description[]

Tadaaki Imaizumi, a Japanese zoologist with an interest in cryptids, noted that there was a theory that the Minnesota Iceman was killed during the Vietnam War, and went to Southeast Asia in 1995 to investigate the Beastman.

He and his associates tried to investigate the cryptid in Vietnam, but when they told the Vietnamese government that they had come to the country to investigate the cryptid, the Vietnamese government became suspicious and prevented them from conducting the investigation. They therefore conducted their research in neighboring Laos.

They were able to obtain eyewitness accounts of the Beastman from local residents through interviews in Lak Sao and made sketches based on the testimonies. They were also able to obtain rumors of the creature's appearance in Prabang village.

Imaizumi's sketch of the horse-like Lao Beastman, based on villagers' testimonies.

When Imaizumi and his group asked an elder in Prabang village about the Beastman, he replied that the creature had not been seen since the cave was blown up during the war and that it may have become extinct or migrated.

Another villager said the creature looks like an upright horse. According to the testimony, this one's whole body is covered with short, shiny hair similar to that of a horse, it has a mane, its hands are round and can grasp things, and its feet are also round in shape. Imaizumi thought that these characteristics may be the result of mixed information about the gaur and the Beastman. According to their notes based on testimony, the creature's name is サーン or コン・コイ, but the alphabetical spelling is unknown.
