Kitakami Canal Frilled shark is a freshwater shark-like cryptid reported from Miyagi, Japan.
On December 19, 2007, a person with the handle Lilith left an interesting report in the comments section of "UMA Fan," a well-known cryptid information blog in Japan. Several years ago, he or she saw the carcass of a frilled shark-like creature in the Kitakami Canal, which runs near his or her house. It was 2 meters long, dark red in color, with blue eyes and a tail not dissimilar to that of a frilled shark. Lilith saw something similar several times after this sighting. He or she believed that what he or she saw was a type of many-finned sea serpent.
The realistic theory is that this was most likely some kind of ornamental fish that had been illegally dumped into the river, but exactly what kind of fish it was is still unknown.
