Kaiju of Mt. Bandai is a cryptid reported from Mt. Bandai, Fukushima, Japan.
In 1781, a number of cases of missing children begin to occur in the area. Several prefectures were ordered to investigate, and investigations revealed that a man-eating monster was lurking in Mt. Bandai. The monster was 1.4 metres tall, had a five-metre long tail, hair all over its body, a huge mouth with fangs, a long nose similar to a bird's beak and short paddle-like limbs. Several persons fought the monsters, but even when they fired at them, the bullets were ineffective as they were bounced off the surface of the body.
On 22 July 1782, in Mt. Bandai, Matsumae Sanpei, a master gunsmith, shot a cannon at the monster and killed it.
It is thought that these stories may have been created by comparing the famine to a monster, as there was a famine in the area at the time.
