The Japanessie (ジャパネッシー) is an aquatic cryptid reported from the Chugoku region of Japan.
On April 9, 2016, a cryptid named Japanessie was introduced in a TV program introducing occult videos, named “Utsucchatta Eizou GP”(映っちゃった映像GP). The video shows a neck-like object protruding from the surface of the water, which once submerged and reappeared on the surface.
The TV program introduced that the video was shot at "a certain lake in the Chugoku region”. The Chugoku region refers to the five prefectures of Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima, and Yamaguchi, so it is assumed that the video was shot somewhere in this region, but the exact location has yet to be determined.
The identity of this cryptid would be a softshell turtle or possibly a waterfowl such as a cormorant, based on its long neck and diving characteristics.
