Indian Chupacabra (Raktha Athika)[]
For many decades, there were regular media Reports of an Unknown Mysterious Wild Animal, named "Ajnhatha Jeevi" in Malayalam, killing Goats and Chicken at night, by drinking the Blood, through two holes on the neck of the victim, mainly in the coastal areas of Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode Districts of Kerala, India.
In a single night, as many as 12 goats were killed and the blood was drained. These Attacks and mysterious behaviour of this animal created panic among the locals. There were even rumours among the people that devils may be behind the attacks.
Scientists at KFRI (Kerala Forest Research Institute) were unable to solve the mystery.[]
Scientists at KFRI (Kerala Forest Research Institute) Research centre, studied this phenomenon multiple times, but was unable to solve the mystery. They always gave the report that such an animal doesn't exist!
There was some reported sightings, but those who saw it, were not able to get any photos.
A mysterious animal was finally caught in a cage.[]
For some days, an unknown animal was killing Chicken and drinking it's blood in a house in Pavaratty area of Thrissur District. So they put a cage to catch the Predator. A mysterious animal was finally caught in the cage in Thrissur District of Kerala, India in June 2016. The wildlife officials who studied the photo of the Mysterious Creature, thought it was only a Palm Civet which lost its Hair due to Mange! Those who caught it secretly ate the animal.
A Scientist and Conservation Biologist named Dijo Thomas, after seeing the photos, said that it was related to Kangaroo. He was already well known in South India for the Discovery of a Big Cat called Neelagiri Kaduva.
He later said that he had not known about a similar reported animal called Chupacabra in America, at the time of the Discovery of Raktha Athika. (That was one of the reasons why, he explains, the name Chupacabra was not added with Raktha Athika during the initial day of the Discovery)
He did a Research on the animal and Scientifically Proved that,- it was a unique Species that drank the blood of Goats and Chicken.
He named it Raktha Athika (Blood Drinker).
Later on 16 Aug 2016, Dijo Thomas Scientifically Proved that Raktha Athika was a NEW Species and a New Family using the Fact, Features, Factors etc. Based – New Species Scientifically Proving Method {F3B-NSPM }.
Presetation of Scientific Papers[]
On 06 Jan 2017 Dijo Thomas presented 2 Scientific Papers on Raktha Athika and F3B - NSPM Method for Raktha Athika; in 104th Indian Science Congress; held at Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh.
Facts[]
Maximum Probable Number: 6 – 20
Food: Drinks the blood of Goats & Chicken. Do not eat Flesh. Two holes on the neck of the prey.
Raktha Athika certainly drinks / eats something else as its main diet, but Dijo Thomas has not been able to find out what it is. He said he can only guess for now, which may be anything from fish to coconut juice to fish.
Travel: Land & Water
Location: Pavaratty, Thrichur, Kerala, India in June 2016.
Range: Ponnani – Chavakkadu – Triprayar areas in
Thrichur, Malappuram and Kozhikode Districts of Kerala, India.
Lesser number of Attacks also took place in Palakkad and Ernakulam Districts of Kerala.
Similar Reported Animal:[]
Chupacabra or Chupacabras in South and North America.
There are many sightings and attacks of Chupacabra in both North and South America, especially in Texas and Southern parts of USA, Scientists there have been stating that it is only Coyotes and Raccoons, which lost its hair due to Mange disease. But the majority of the people thinks that somehow the Scientists are Wrong, and that Chupacabra really exists in the wild!
(Spanish pronunciation: po km[tʃupaˈkaβɾas], literally “goat-sucker”; from “chupar”, “to suck”, and “cabra”, “goat”) .
While Chupacabra is not Scientifically Proven, the difference is that, Raktha Athika has been Scientifically Proven by Dijo Thomas.
Conservation status: Critically Endangered (CR)[]
The Interesting fact is that, unlike Chupacabra in America, clear pictures and videos of Raktha Athika was obtained by him.
