"'Feejee Mermaid' has become the generic term for the many fake mermaids that can be found around the world..."
This article contains information relating to a hoax. According to Cambridge dictionary a hoax is "a plan to deceive a large group of people; a trick." |
The Horned Hare, "scientifically" known as Lepus cornutus, is a supposed european creature essentially identical to the North American "Jackalope" who has appeared in multiple bestiaries and science books from the Renaissance. It is a hare with short antlers who is one of the very few differences from the Jackalope as the Jackalope is said to have medium or longer antlers. The creature's existence was documented by Conrad Gessner and other naturalists.
Hoax[]
The creature turned out to likely be a hoax, and people don't believe in it anymore, although some people do still believe in the Jackalope for example.
