The Hentifia (ヘンティフィア, spelling is tentative) is a cryptid that has been reported from Somalia. However, information on this cryptid exists only in recent Japanese literature.

According to the Japanese introduction, the dangerous beast appeared in the northeastern Somali city of Bari for two weeks in December 1997. The beast resembled a wolf or badger, was skinny, and had a white tail. The beast is said to have killed six people and injured eight others. The beast is said to have drunk human blood and chewed and eaten both bones and flesh with its powerful jaws.

Somalia has the tradition of the Werehyena, a Werewolf-like hyena humanoid. It is possible that a very serious mistranslation of "Werehyena" resulted in its introduction in Japan under the name Hentifia.

In Somalia at that time, in addition to the ongoing civil war, there was a massive flood in October, and wild animals such as crocodiles attacked the displaced people, so people were very confused and anxious, and it is possible that this anxiety was expressed in the form of the revival of the Werehyena.
