Hassie (Hassie of Hatouzu) is an aquatic cryptid reported from Hatouzu, Oita Prefecture, Japan. Note that there are other cryptids in Japan called Hassie in Lake Hamana and the Nagara River.

Around 2018, a local resident was out fishing offshore when he saw what appeared to be a giant creature on the surface of the ocean about 20 meters away. The part of the creature that emerged from the surface of the sea was a toothy rostrum and back-like area, about 7 meters long. The creature dived under the witness's boat and disappeared.
According to witnesses, when swimming, the creature moved vertically like a whale, not horizontally like a fish. The operator of a local museum drew an imaginary drawing of the creature and estimated its length at 12 meters.
