The Gudiao is a bird from the ancient bestiaries of China.
Description[]
The Gudiao resembled an eagle but with horns on its head. It was said to be able to mimic the sounds of a crying baby. It lived in the mountains of ancient China.
It was carnivorous and sometimes would eat humans.
Explanation[]
The Gudiao could be a simple bogeyman figure, created to scare children into not going into rivers, out of fear of them drowning.
