Present day Amagaike
The Giant Snake of Amagaike is a cryptid reported from Nishi Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Description[]
On a rainy evening in mid-January 1555, a man named Matazaemon(又左衛門), who lived nearby, saw a giant creature as he passed by a pond named Amagaike. It looked like a black giant snake, with a body large enough to be held by both arms, a deer-like head with dazzling, starry eyes, and a red tongue the size of an outstretched human palm. The creature was lying on the bank of the pond, facing in the direction of the pond, when it turned back toward Matazaemon and the frightened man fled.
This rumor reached the ears of Oda Nobunaga, a neighboring warlord. He drained the pond and conducted an investigation to capture the serpent; when about 70% of the water was drained, he jumped into the pond himself to look for the serpent, but he could not find it.
