Photo of Giant Marlin taken by NMR
The Giant Marlin or Giant Swordfish is a giant marlin or swordfish reported from the Izu Islands in the Pacific Ocean of Japan. Normal marlin and swordfish are at most 5 meters(16 ft) in size, but the Giant Marlin/Swordfish is said to be twice as large, reaching 10 meters(33 ft).
This has often been reported from the Pacific Ocean near the Izu Islands, and is described as being 10 meters long, with a thick torso and seemingly shark-like body shape.
The NMR group's research team accompanied the Mahalo sportfishing team to investigate the giant marlin/swordfish, and while they were fishing for an 3.5 meters (11 ft) marlin, they saw a marlin more than twice its size pass nearby. This was videotaped, and NMR's video confirmation of the creature's appearance led to the conclusion that it might not be a marlin or swordfish, but a completely different cryptid, based on its movement and morphology.
