The Giant Creature of Aotsuchi Dam is an aquatic cryptid reported from Aotsuchi Dam in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. All that was witnessed were strange waves, which are assumed to be caused by the organism. It may be or be related to the Umi bōzu.
Sightings and Reports[]
On July 24, 2006, around noon, a part-time employee was taking a walk near the dam when she saw a giant wave. She estimated the length of this wave to be 7 to 8 meters by comparing it to the buoy on the surface of the water and thought it was caused by a giant organism. She reported what she saw to Takao Fukui, the dam's executive director.
The next day, July 25, around 3:00 p.m., as the woman, the first witness, and Fukui were waiting for the creature to appear with their cameras, a huge wave formed on the surface of the water and was captured in a photograph. This wave moved around on the surface of the water for about 20 minutes before slowly moving in a circular motion and submerging underwater.
