Garappa (ガラッパ, Garappa) is a creature from Japanese folklore.

The Garappa (Not to be mistaken with its regional counterpart, the Kappa) Is an amphibious creature hailing from the islands of Kyūshū in southern Japan. They are often described as having the limbs of a frog or monkey, the shell of a tortoise, a beak like a duck or a waterfowl, long black hair, and a bony plate or dish on top of its head.

According to most accounts, Garappa are shy creatures and actively try to stay out of the detection of humans. Garappa are shy are solitary and are usually found in sparsely populated rivers and ponds. Garappa are often heard rather than seen and emit a wide variety of calls. Other accounts describe Garappa as quite the mischief-makers and often prank humans.
