Depiction from "A Chinese Bestiary: Strange Creatures from the Guideways Through Mountains and Seas"
The Feishu is a creature from ancient bestiaries of China.
Description[]
It had the body of a rabbit alongside the head of a rat. It was able to fly by the two wings on its back. The picture of a Feishu is a historical pen and ink drawing from a later edition of the "A Chinese Bestiary: Strange Creatures from the Guideways Through Mountains and Seas". (4th century - 1st century B.C.E.).
Possible Explanation[]
Due to the presence of these speculated animals across Asia and Africa, and their heads depicted as rodent-like, the Feishu is likely an ancient undiscovered rabbit-sized species of Megabats (AKA Fruit Bats).
