The Diablo Fishman (also known as the Diablo Canyon Fishman, the SLO Coastal Fishman, or just the Fishman) is a humanoid creature native to the coastal towns of San Luis Obispo County, California. He is often described as having a Creature From The Black Lagoon-esque skull face with three eyes, a radioactive hand, a yellow hazmat suit with a missing mask, seaweed draped over his shoulders, a blue fishing net around his shoulders, and one glove missing to reveal his orange fish-hand.
While there are many stories detailing the origin of the Diablo Fishman, it is generally agreed that the Diablo Fishman was an employee of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant in Avila Beach, CA who somehow became irradiated and was dumped into the ocean sometime right before the second reactor was commissioned in 1986. While in the ocean, he slowly transformed into the Fishman. Since then, he roams the coastlines of Morro Bay, Los Osos, Montana De Oro, Avila Beach, and Shell Beach. It is said that the Diablo Fishman does not venture much further than Morro Bay and Shell Beach because he has a vague 10 mile radius from the Diablo Canyon Power Plant and also does not venture very far from the ocean shoreline.
It is uncertain whether or not the Diablo Fishman is dangerous. Some report him having a radioactive touch which can stun, maim, or kill and that he only ventures out on foggy nights to feed on the locals. Other reports paint him as an environmental activist that cleans the trash from the ocean & beaches and actively tries to sabotage the Diablo Canyon Power Plant like he successfully disabled the Morro Bay Power Plant. And, perhaps most disappointingly, there are those who believe the Diablo Fishman is merely many different people in a mask and outfit trying the keep the legend alive.
