Daryu （鼉龍,駝龍）aka Amadatsu （アマダツ）is a reptilian cryptid reported from Amami Ōshima Island, Japan. It is generally believed that Daryu is a crocodile that came from the south on a warm current and is often presented as old information that simply depicts a crocodile.

It is described as 6 meters (20 feet) long with a grayish-black back and yellow belly. Crocodiles have five toes on their front feet and four on their hind feet, but books state that Daryu had four toes on his front feet and five on his hind feet. This could be evidence that Daryu is a very different creature from the crocodile, but it may simply be that the numbers were written backwards by mistake.
The book "Shizu no Odamaki"（倭文麻環）written in 1812, tells the story of an islander's capture of a 6-meter Daryu in 1800. According to the book "Nantou zatsuwa" （南島雑話）written in the 1850s, an islander killed and ate a Daryu that had come ashore from the sea and was sleeping in a meadow near the shore, and it tasted similar to a sea turtle.
