Crimean War Monstrosities are winged cryptids sighted sometime between 1853 and 1856; the detailed location of the sighting is not described and is unknown, although it is thought to be in what is now Ukraine, Turkey or Russia.
Sightings[]
There are two known sightings of this cryptid.
One is the story of Russian soldiers who went to the center of the battlefield to defeat the enemy, when suddenly it became dark and they looked up at the sky to see a huge creature resembling a headless crow flying in a circle. They were so distracted by the creature that it accidentally surprised their unit and was mistakenly identified by the camp soldiers as the enemy and shot dead.
Another story goes that five Turkish soldiers came running screaming, and the Russians thought it was an enemy attack, but when a swarm of giant bat-like creatures appeared in pursuit of the Turkish soldiers, they realized that the enemy forces were simply fleeing.
Explanations[]
When wars and major accidents occur, rumors occasionally arise that cryptids have been sighted at the scene. This case is probably one of them, and it is very likely that they made up a non-existent cryptid sighting, taking advantage of the fact that there is no-one who can refute it.
