The Chigapulan River Kaiju (チガプラン川の怪獣)or Chigapulan River Ichthyosaur-form Monster (チガプラン川の魚竜型怪物) is an aquatic cryptid reported from the Philippines. Currently, this cryptid information can be found only in Japanese books.
Description[]
In his book, Japanese Zoologist Tadaaki Imaizumi describes a cryptid that appeared in the “Chigapulan River” in the Philippines (the spelling is tentative since the original text is written in katakana as “チガプラン川”). According to its description, on January 14, 1976, several locals saw a huge creature swimming through the torrent. It was described as 20 meters long, with a huge head and a tail covered with scales. The creature swam in the direction of the sea.
On the other hand, there is significantly less information on this story and some doubt the accuracy of this story. Since the name Chigapulan River cannot be found in a search, some believe it may be the Guipangpang River, based on the results of a Google search.
The fact that it was published in a cryptid book by a zoologist, rather than in a children's book or a less accurate tabloid newspaper, suggests that some source exists, but it has not yet been determined.
