Cryptozoology is the study of cryptids, or translated from it's Latin and Greek roots, the study of secret or hidden animals. Cryptozoology is an attempt to analyze creatures of contemporary sightings in a scientific fashion. Cryptozoologists are pseudo-scientists that study the nature of cryptids and cryptozoology. Cryptozoology is not recognized as a branch of science by actual scientists, often resulting in the instances of self-declared cryptozoologists jumping to conclusions, the misconduct of the scientific theory and process, and overall lack of professionalism. Just as cryptozoology, a branch of zoology, is the study of animals whose existence has not been proven, cryptobotany, a branch of botany, is the study of plants whose existence is also not recognized by the scientific community.
