The Beast of Karoo was a cryptid reptile reported from the Karoo Desert, near Loxton, in South Africa, in around 1946.
Description[]
It was observed by various motorists driving to and from Loxton, and was described as being about 3.65 metres long, with a thick, powerful tail. Philippe Coudray speculates it could have been some kind of giant monitor lizard, perhaps a yet undiscovered species.
